About H.O.P.E

Housing Opportunities Providing Empowerment (H.O.P.E.) is a community-based effort in Scranton, Pennsylvania, focused on one simple belief: housing is the foundation for everything else.

We work with people experiencing homelessness, or on the verge of homelessness, to help them move from the street or unstable housing into safe, stable homes. From there, we connect them with support, resources, and community so they can move toward greater independence.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create real, practical housing opportunities for people experiencing homelessness in Scranton and to empower them with the tools, relationships, and support they need to thrive.

Why Scranton?

Scranton has empty and underused buildings, as well as neighbors who want to help but don’t always know how. H.O.P.E. exists to bring those two things together:
